Craig Bond – Partner & Chief Creative Officer, BSTREET
Craig has over 20 years of below the line marketing experience in North America and most recently in the UK giving him a unique perspective on how to make mobile a essential part of your integrated campaign.
Since arriving at BSTREET, Craig’s broad range of experience has helped to earn him a reputation as being both a strong leader and catalyst for creative solutions that work. BSTREET’s core offering has grown from its core retail and promotions business to include experiential, digital and mobile allowing Craig and his team to deliver SmartIdeasTM for a international blue-chip client roster including Coca-Cola, Pernod Ricard, Carlsberg, Weston Bakeries and Ferrero.
Prior to BSTREET, Craig was VP, Creative Director at Marketing Drive Worldwide, establishing a creative portfolio that earned numerous national and international awards for innovation and creative excellence. His strategic leadership helped to produce an integrated ‘model of one’ for clients such as Coca-Cola, Coors Light, IBM, Kraft and Microsoft.
In the early ‘90s Craig was recruited to help establish The Stanford Agency – a boutique shop specializing in sports marketing. Handling both promotional and corporate communications for the Toronto Blue Jays through two World Series Championships and resurrecting the Toronto Argonauts franchise.
Charlotte Burke – Mobile Venture Partners
Ms. Burke is a high energy executive with extensive experience in building and operating profitable technology businesses in the Internet, mobile and computer industries. She is recognized as a strategic thinker with solid financial acumen, technological vision and the marketing prowess to deliver best in class performance. A trail blazer who led Bell through three major technology transformations: the launch of digital cellular, wireless data services, and the roll out of high speed Internet. Formerly , SVP and Officer of Bell’s Consumer Internet Business Unit she was responsible for Canada’s largest ISP and Portal, Sympatico.MSN.ca. She also held the position of VP Marketing & Product Development for Bell Mobility and launched Digital PCS, IX Data and over 150 new services with small and larger partners.
Under her leadership Bell received a number of Innovation Awards including 3 CTIA Awards for Best PCS Launch Campaign 1997; CDG Award for Most Innovative Wireless Carrier WW 1998; Ranked #1 Wireless Innovator N.A. 2000 ; North American Online Safety Leadership Award . She also held senior positions with both Compaq and Sony Canada. Charlotte is currently providing advisory services to early stage mobile start-ups focusing on all aspects of commercialization. Charlotte holds an undergraduate degree in Accounting from Acadia University (1983), where she serves on the BOGs and an MBA from Harvard Business School (1992).
Jay Couse – SVP Business Development, Diversinet Corp.
Jay Couse is responsible for Diversinet’s USA business which centers on the healthcare and financial services marketplaces. Jay is also the co-inventor of the patent pending wallet/vault technology which secures the AllOne Mobile healthcare wallet www.allonemobile.com and the Intersections Inc. Mobile Lockbox applications.
Previously, Mr. Couse has held similar positions in other wireless startups including Wysdom Inc. (mobile service delivery platform) and Mobile Diagnostix Inc. (wireless configuration management) which was acquired first by Bitfone Inc and is now part of HP. Jay has extensive experience working with wireless carriers on an international basis and most recently bringing mobile healthcare into the USA marketplace utilizing the AT&T, Sprint, Verizon and T-Mobile networks as well as working with the leading app stores . Prior to this, Jay was the Managing Director for NCS Canada, operating four data centers.
Mr. Couse holds an Honors B.A. in Business Administration from the Richard Ivey School of Business, University of Western Ontario. He is the recipient of two national academic awards, The Medical Association Award and the National Federation of Teachers Award.
Peter Evans, Advisor, MaRS Venture Group
Peter Evans has been an active entrepreneur, angel investor and consultant in the digital media industry for over 15 years, working in areas such as software, online media and telecommunications. Hiscorporate roles have included senior research, product management andCMO positions with PlateSpin, FloNetwork (acquired by DoubleClick),MediaLinx/Sympatico and Bell Canada. Since 2002 he has consulted onstrategy and marketing projects for clients such as include Telus, CNWGroup, DoubleClick (acquired by Google), Soltrus Solutions (acquired byVerisign), Digital Connexxions (acquired by InfoUSA), Truition, Telmetricsand Sitebrand. In 2005 he helped establish the IT Venture Group practice atthe MaRS Centre, which advises entrepreneurs and high growth companies intechnology markets. As part of this team he works with startups in areassuch as strategic planning, market research, business model development,product management, brand strategy and channel development. He holds an MBAfrom Queen’s University.
Jim Glover – Investment Director, Business Development Bank of Canada
Jim is an Investment Director at BDC Capital responsible for telecommunications investments. Prior to joining BDC in 2002, Jim had over 18 years experience in bringing new products to market, having previously held senior positions in product management, engineering, finance and marketing with Nortel Networks. Jim represents BDC as a director on numerous boards and is also on the advisory board for the University Of Toronto Masters Of Engineering in Telecommunications Program. Jim Glover holds a Bachelor of Applied Science degree from the University of Waterloo, an MBA from McMaster University and is a Professional Engineer in Ontario.
BDC Venture Capital has been involved in venture capital since 1975 and has to date invested in more than 400 companies involved in the areas of Life Sciences, Telecommunications, Information Technology and Energy, Environment, Electronic & Materials.
Matt Golden, Partner, BlackBerry Partners Fund
Matt is a senior member of the RBC Venture Partners team focused on direct investments in the newly formed Blackberry Partners Fund.
Prior to RBC Venture Partners, Matt was a founding member of Tira Wireless, a leading provider of mobile content deployment technology and services. As SVP Sales, Business Development and Corporate Development, Tira grew to become a recognized industry leader, consistently delivering strong year over year revenue growth and receiving multiple industry innovation and growth awards.
Matt came to Tira from Brightspark Ventures LP, one of Canada’s leading early stage venture capital firms. As Director of New Ventures, he applied his entrepreneurial skills to building financial networks, raising capital, striking alliances and forming partnerships for the Brightspark group of companies.
Prior to Brightspark, Matt practiced law at Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP, one of Canada’s premier law firms specializing in business technology, general corporate, financial services and mergers and acquisitions.
As an expert on mobile content deployment, distribution and business development, Matt is a frequent speaker at business schools and industry events, including CTIA, Games & Mobile Forum, MECCA, Mobile Entertainment Summit and Always On Innovation Summit. Matt is a graduate of the University of Ottawa’s LLB/MBA program.
Lauri Hirvonen, Senior Business Development Manager, Nokia (Finland)
Lauri started Forum Nokia 1996. After it reached 1 million developers, Lauri joined the dotMobi initiative 2002. He was instrumental in creating the dotMobi joint venture with other mobile industry members. Joint Venture company was created 2005. Then Lauri focused to create dotMobi Advisory Group (MAG) and he is the Vice-Chair of MAG. MAG has around 100 member companies.”
Rubsun Ho – Cognition LLP
Rubsun Ho co-founded Cognition LLP out of the recognition that the existing legal marketplace did not service startup and growth businesses well, notwithstanding their significant needs for practical and affordable legal advice.Prior to co-founding Cognition, Rubsun acted in various capacities with Wysdom Inc., a wireless Internet startup based in Toronto, where Rubsun joined on as employee number ten.
While at Wysdom, Rubsun acted as VP Business Development and as General Counsel, helping the company raise over US$60 million in financing and procuring and finalizing marketing and distribution agreements with various telecom and Internet entities.
Before Wysdom, Rubsun was a corporate and securities associate in the Toronto and New York offices of Stikeman Elliott, where he worked on a number of public and private financings and M&A transactions. Rubsun holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Toronto (1995) and a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance) from McGill University (1992), and lives in Toronto with his wife, two children and lop eared rabbit.
Amielle Lake – CEO, Tagga Media Inc.
Amielle Lake is the CEO of Tagga Media Inc (www.tagga.com), a company focused on delivering relevant and effective mobile marketing tools to professional marketers across North America.Tagga’s Agency Platform enables advertising and marketing agencies of all sizes to create and deploy a range of mobile marketing campaigns without having to manage carriers, hire specialized staff, or invest in hefty upfront fees for carriers and staff. The platform is popular with media both digital and traditional agencies that understand the importance of mobile as a completely integrated solution across any brands’ campaign creative and media mix. Prior to founding Tagga, Amielle held a range of executive marketing and corporate development roles across the software, financial services and mining market sectors. Amielle also holds an MBA and B.A, and is a published author. Her book, The Elephant Hunters, is about how social interactions determine outcomes in the financial world.
Jeremy S. Laurin – Investment Manager, Investment Accelerator Fund (IAF) Ontario Centres of Excellence
Jeremy received an Integrated Marketing & Communications Diploma in 1993 from St. Lawrence College in Kingston, Ontario and immediately after graduating went to work in the tourism industry as Vice President of Operations for a prominent 1,000 Islands tour operator.
In 1997 Jeremy founded a technology company in Kingston, Ontario, developing proprietary software for the management of simultaneous audio from personal computers. Jeremy was responsible for developing the intellectual property strategy, authored a patent, and was responsible for growing the corporation and its IP assets. Jeremy was also responsible for creating the firms first international sales agreements in both San Francisco, California and Copenhagen, Denmark.
In 2001 Jeremy was recognized by St. Lawrence College with the prestigious Alumni of Distinction Award. Jeremy has also received the Entrepreneur of the Year award from the Kingston Chamber of Commerce, and his company won the Business of the Year award from the Bank of Nova Scotia.
As Investment Manager for the IAF Jeremy is responsible for the digital media portfolio of the fund working with start-ups in the IT space including, mobile, social media and cloud computing.
David Lucatch – President, ItiBiti Systems Inc. ,CEO, Intertainment Media Inc.
A specialist in the development of consumer engagement applications, David Lucatch has enjoyed a career designing marketing and business initiatives for major brands worldwide, leading both conventional and online business programs in the US, Canada, the UK, Europe, Asia and Australia.
An early entrant in the digital sector, David has also developed online banking and credit card security software and e-commerce platforms for a wide range of global business applications. In addition, this expertise was instrumental in the creation of several major global fundraising and awareness initiatives, and he has been recognized internationally for his efforts.

Douglas Pringle, Producer, PeakMedia and Educator, Centennial College’s School of Communications
Douglas Pringle is a producer and director of digital media, television and music, whose multiplatform productions mirror the evolution of media technology.
As producer for PeakMedia since 1997 with partner Michaele Jordana, Douglas has developed projects that integrate multiple media to pioneer and create new forms of online experience, most recently working with medical educators to develop the platform for Bad Bugs, an online learning tool for doctors documenting the threat of resistant bacteria in hospitals.
Taking the digital experience to larger formats, he works as technical liaison between design and technology teams teams, architects and engineers, to produce digital video content for large public spaces such as The Media Tree,
Joseph Rios -Senior Associate, Information and Communication Technology, Business Development Group, Export Development Canada
Joseph Rios works on the Information and Communications Technology Sector Team as a Senior Associate in the Business Development Group (BDG). Joseph joined EDC in 2005 working as an Underwriter in the Credit Insurance Underwriting (CIU) Group on the Light Manufacturing Team and more recently, on the Transportation Team. As a Senior Associate, Joseph is responsible for strategizing and executing business development initiatives that are critical to the fulfillment of the ICT market coverage mandate for EDC. Joseph also plays a role in managing the relationships with the various technology industry associations across Canada.
Before joining EDC, Joseph worked in various capacities in both the private and public sectors, including employment as an Account Manager at GE Commercial Finance.
Joseph has a Bachelor of Commerce with a specialization in International Business and Management Information Systems from the University of Ottawa and has an MBA from the University of Quebec de Montreal.

Gary Rubinoff – Managing Director, Summerhill VenturePartners
Gary joined Summerhill Venture Partners as President and Managing Director in late 2001, and has been instrumental in building the Summerhill Venture Partners team and defining the next stage of our evolution.
For the 9 years prior to Summerhill Venture Partners, Gary was a partner at J.L. Albright Venture Partners LP and Jefferson Partners LP, both communications and IT focused VC funds based in Toronto. Prior to his career in venture capital, Gary was President and General Manager of Scholz Research & Development, a Boston-based technology company. Gary’s wide range of experience in finance, law and entrepreneurial management,
including more than 14 years in venture capital, enables him to play a significant role in financing and growing emerging technology companies.
Past investment successes include Service Soft (acquired by Kana Software, NASDAQ: KANA), Isolation Systems (acquired by Shiva/Intel, NASDAQ: INTC), I-star Internet (TSE IPO and acquired by PSI Net), and Wescam Inc. (TSE IPO: WSC).
Gary began his career as a lawyer, and practiced corporate/securities law at two national law firms in Toronto. Gary received an LLB from the University of Western Ontario (1985), and an MBA from the Ivey School of Business, in London Ontario (1991).

Mark Ruddock, President and CEO, Viigo Inc.
Mark Ruddock joined Viigo in 2007 as President and CEO after having worked with the team for a number of months in his capacity as Entrepreneur-in-Residence at Ventures West. At Viigo, Mark is responsible for spearheading both the firm’s corporate strategy and its day-to-day operations. During his leadership, Viigo has won numerous awards, including “Most Promising New Company of the Year” from the CNMA, and the “Wireless Leadership Award” from RIM. Viigo’s customer base has also grown exponentially, rapidly becoming one of the most popular software applications available for smartphones.
Mark came to Ventures West in 2006 after the acquisition of INEA Corporation, a Ventures West portfolio company he founded. At Ventures West he was involved in identifying and evaluating investment opportunities in the Web 2.0 and Mobile sectors.
As the founding CEO of INEA Corporation, a software company focused on the Financial Services Industry, he led a fast growing organization that became a key strategic partner to many of the world’s leading financial institutions. By 2005 INEA had deployments in over 44 countries worldwide. After the acquisition in June 2005, by the Cartesis Group, he joined the Paris-based management team as Chief Product Officer, where he led the successful integration of the two companies. Cartesis was subsequently acquired by Business Objects in 2007.
Duncan Stewart, Director, Deloitte Canada Research – Technology, Media & Telecommunications (TMT), Life Sciences and GreenTech
Duncan Stewart is the Director of Deloitte Canada Research in the areas of Technology, Media & Telecommunications (TMT), Life Sciences and GreenTech. He is a member of Deloitte’s national TMT executive team and is a co-author of Deloitte Research’s annual Predictions report on trends in TMT.
Duncan has almost two decades of experience in the TMT industry. As an analyst and portfolio manager, Duncan has provided research or made investments in the entire Canadian technology and telecommunications sector. He has written research on names such as Nortel and Celestica, and been a venture capital investor in Research in Motion among others.
Duncan is also founder and CEO of DSAM Consulting, which performs research and analysis on companies in the TMT and GreenTech space. Prior to that, Duncan was a co-founder of Tera Capital, Canada’s first high tech and biotech money manager, where he was responsible for managing both mutual funds and VC funds, and was the Canadian Technology Fund Manager of the Year in 2003. In the mid 1990s, Duncan managed a $150 million small cap high tech/biotech fund at a large Canadian pension fund manager. In his years as an investor he has deployed a cumulative $2 billion of capital into the global TMT and Life Science markets.
Duncan has a high profile media presence and is frequently interviewed on technology and biotechnology issues. He has also been a bi-monthly columnist for The National Post and CBC Radio.
Duncan is a Chartered Financial Analyst and holds a B.A. in Political Science from the University of British Columbia.
Roland Taylor, General Counsel and Secretary, QuickPlay Media Inc.
Roland graduated from the joint University of Windsor Faculty of Law and University of Detroit – Mercy Joint LL.B/J.D. programme in 1993. In 1995, after articling with Borden & Elliot, the predecessor to Borden Ladner Gervais, Roland established his own practice focused primarily on high-technology clients. Since 1999, Roland moved in-house and has been involved with a number of high-tech enterprises. Some of these ventures included dealing with IP-based telecommunications in the creation of one-of the world’s first toll-quality voice-over-IP telecommunication networks, early wireless data initiatives and services for mobile devices, and the application of distributed computing for wireless broadband technologies. This experience is now being brought to the media environment as the General Counsel and Secretary of QuickPlay. In addition to managing QuickPlay’s day-to-day legal needs, Roland sits on the Company’s senior management team, is the company’s Chief Security and Privacy Officer, its Secretary to the Board and its audit and compensation committees and he oversees the company’s external counsel with respect to the QuickPlay’s corporate finance activities and intellectual property protection. QuickPlay has developed technology whereby it provides managed services to mobile telecommunication service providers and mobile content creators for the management of the distribution of rich-media content. These services are currently being provided in Canada, the US, the EU and India.
Ken Truffen, Vice-President, Marketing, IMS
Ken Truffen is the Vice-President, Marketing for IMS. He is accountable for developing and implementing the marketing and content strategies for all products within the IMS portfolio including the recently launched iLane product. iLane is the worlds first and only in-car device that gives drivers hands-free, voice based access to their Smartphones including email capabilities, calling features, and on-demand news and weather.
Previously, Ken spent 12 years at Bell Mobility where he was instrumental in the growth of the wireless data market in Canada while leading all content and marketing efforts and developing key relationships with industry leading content providers such as Amazon, eBAY, Google and the NHL to name a few. Truffen earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Windsor.
Dean Tseretopoulos – VP, Gateway & Carrier Business, MyThum Interactive Inc.
Dean has over ten years of experience developing new business opportunities in the mobile industry. As MyThum’s second employee, he has been instrumental in developing many of their partner and client relationships. MyThum has launched thousands of mobile initiatives, and is a Deloitte. Technology Fast 50 company. Dean currently leads MyThum’s Canadian carrier relationships, and offers connectivity and carrier billed revenue settlement to 3rd parties. Prior to MyThum, Dean spent five years at Canadian national wireless operator Microcell Telecommunications (currently Fido Solutions, a wholly owned subsidiary of Rogers Wireless), where he managed a voice and data Mobile Virtual Network Operator service offering, and developed new business opportunities such as enabling Canadian inter-carrier SMS messaging. Dean holds an MBA from Dalhousie University and a BSc from McMaster University.
Kevin Tuer -, VP, Digital Media, Managing Director, Canadian Digital Media Network
Kevin has held several engineering and senior management positions in the high tech industry over the past 12 years. Kevin has been involved in the development of a number of products including a sighting system for a grenade launcher, an educational robot, and a predictive autopilot controller for large ships. As the VP Engineering of Control Advancements, Kevin oversaw the development of several products including the first haptic-enabled screen reading system for low vision users. Kevin went on to become the President of Alliance Technologies, an engineering services firm, which provided a range of electrical, mechanical and software development services to local businesses. Prior to joining Communitech, Kevin was a co-founder and CTO of Handshake VR Inc., a company that specialized in the creation and deployment of haptic and telehaptic applications. During his tenure at Handshake, Kevin led the technical development of the company’s products, including the first graphically based toolkit for rapid development of haptic and telehaptic applications. Kevin was also responsible for leading the company’s government funding and SR&ED initiatives. Kevin has an undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering and graduate degrees in mechanical engineering and electrical engineering from the University of Waterloo.
Vincent John Vincent – President & Co-Founder, GestureTek Inc.
Vincent John Vincent is the President and Co-Founder of GestureTek Inc., the inventor and multiple patent holder in video gesture control technology for interactive displays and presentation and entertainment systems. He also heads up GestureTek Mobile, the world leader in gesture-based user interfaces for mobile devices and recipient of the 2008 GSMA Mobile Innovation Global Award.
As the creative force behind the company and its technological innovations for the past 20 years, Vince has been instrumental in defining and developing the video gesture recognition and control industry. In addition to commercially marketing the company’s technology, Vincent is responsible for day-to-day operations and sales and marketing for the business. Vincent leads the company’s activities in ongoing market identification, product development in multiple vertical markets, and worldwide installation of GestureTek systems.
Internationally recognized as a leader in the world of multimedia, Vincent is co-creator and past Executive Producer of The International Digital Media Awards. He is on the advisory board for the Toronto Design Exchange VR Visualization Center, and the Art Institute of Toronto. In 2003, Vincent was honored by the Canadian Digital Media Association with a Lifetime Achievement Award.
Vincent has a degree in Psychology from the University of Waterloo.

Brian Hendry – Advisor, The Mobile Institute and Founder, Cellphonist Inc
Brian Hendry has over 20 years’ experience driving growth and innovation for Canadian companies as an entrepreneur, senior financial executive, investment banker, lender and consultant. He co-founded Cellphonist Inc., a mobile consumer education company helping users learn about mobile devices and applications. Brian was formerly CFO of MMV Financial Inc., a technology and life sciences venture finance company where he helped grow MMV’s portfolio 10-fold, raised expansion capital and financed mobile companies such as Redknee and Tira. Earlier in his career Brian was CFO of Autoskill International Inc., an educational software company. He has conducted financing and M&A deals with two investment banking firms, provided strategic consulting to major organizations with Price Waterhouse, and managed a portfolio of major corporate clients for Bank of Montreal. Brian has an MBA from UBC, a BComm from Queen’s and is a CFA.

Michele Perras is a design & research consultant based in Toronto. She currently manages the Mobile Experience Innovation Centre, a public-private consortium dedicated to design leadership, strategic foresight and innovation in Ontario’s mobile industry, led by OCAD. Michele has provided expertise and advising in design, strategy and collaborative innovation over the past 7 years for a wide range of organizations in the educational, non-profit and private sectors. A Research Associate with the Beal Institute for Strategic Creativity, she was Research Lead with Director Alexander Manu on The Imagination Challenge: Strategic Foresight in the Global Economy. Michele has worked with clients such as Motorola, Firefly Foundation, Creative Commons Canada, and BumpTop Technologies, and has taught Material Culture at OCAD.
